Overview

Brief

Kube is a digital solution designed to support carers of individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by providing a centralised platform to track progress, communicate with professionals, and streamline rehabilitation at home.

Developed as part of a hybrid toolkit combining physical play-based training that develop motor skills and logical reasoning with digital tracking, the project addresses the fragmented communication between carers, sheltered workshop staff, and occupational therapists or related healthcare professional (HCP). This case improve collaboration, and extend care beyond institutional walls.

My Role

Collaborated with Public Design Lab to design for the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, partnering with social workers, occupational therapists, and a team lead to advance holistic wellness and sheltered workshop training for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities. Responsible for designing digital products and contributing to the core service model strategy.

SEN Carers struggle to give consistent support for rising cases

Big Question:

  1. How do individuals with SEN process information, and what are their key preferences and mental models?

  2. Who are the key stakeholders involved in managing and supporting a complete SEN case lifecycle?

  3. How does seamless, improved communication among stakeholders enhance the overall consultation and workshop experience?

TRAIN & TRACK
TRAIN & TRACK

Workshop with professionals to clarify their main goal and define information architecture and gathered feedbacks on training model

  • SEN Carer/ Parent: aims to ensure progress isn't lost between training sessions or across environments (home, workshop, clinic)

  • Staff of Sheltered Workshop: Evidence based outcome reporting to funders, guardians, or NGO manager

  • Occupational Therapist: Better plan personalised care

→ Ensure interface content is with mindful colour contrasts, intuitive, safe, and a simplified layout and the play models are grounded in theory
