Reflection
Continuous reflection on present and future is a force to drive iteration and motivate more social innovation for the ever-changing and new circumstances(Meroni and Sangiorgi, 2011). This project has inspired me to rethink the social norms as well as the very nature, practice, and dimension of service design. It got me thinking: How can we (designers) better utilise available resources in society to construct a sustainable world and how can service innovation as an agent of change to navigate new social networks for our seniors?
The answer, in my view, lies in the synergy of co-efforts (Co-design, Collaboration and Co-create). Just like in our project, where different generations, digital tools, and local communities came together, this collective effort creates a real sense of shared ownership and collaborative mindset that helps people realise that if they are part of the network, they can benefit from the number of people who are in that network. That’s a click on helping motivate the seniors.
Overall, in facing a wicked problem like this, rethinking practice open the door to zoom in and out on current system, However, the heart of every meaningful solution remains the same—human connection.
